Football Covid Guidelines

NGYFA Covid-19 Protocols

2020 Season

These measures are put in place as recommendations and guidelines to help curtail and respond to Covid-19.  They are also in place to insure the NGYFA members can have a safer playing environment and conduct the season.  Ultimately, it is up to parents to do what is in their child’s best interest.

  1. All players will have their own personal water bottles/drink and team coolers for games. Host sites will provide access to water at their facility for the filling of team/individual coolers. Host site will not furnish water coolers for teams during games this season. Teams will clean their areas after games before the next game. Host sites should sanitize down markers, chains, and benches in between games.
  2. Social distancing for fans is encouraged in the stands & practices, as well as, frequent handwashing before and after games/practices. Host sites should provide extra handwashing stations or areas when possible.
  3. Mask are encouraged for parents/fans when social distancing is not possible. Mask are strongly encouraged for people over 60 and those with health conditions at all times.
  4. Players exhibiting symptoms including fever or severe cough should not attend practices or games (Parent responsibility). If a player test positive he/she is required to self-quarantine for 10 days or until they get a negative test result, whichever comes first.
  5. Parents/Adults who test positive are required to self-quarantine for 10 days or until they test negative, whichever comes first.A parent or adult testing positive that has had contact with a player requires the player/cheerleader to QUARINTINE FOR 10 DAYS.
  6. If a parent of a player on a team or a player test positive after practices begin on August 10th, they should notify their coach who will then notify their Agency/Association NGYFA Board member. The Board member will notify the NGYFA Commissioner with the team involved not individual names. After games begin, the Commissioner will notify the team’s opponent NGYFA Board member if it is within the 10 day window of a game played, if someone test positive. The NGYFA Board member will notify the teams Head Coach who will let the parents know.
  7. Parents & Coaches should clean equipment including helmets, shoulder pads, footballs, pants, jerseys, and other personal equipment before practices and games.
  8. Players, Cheerleaders, and Coaches will not shake hands after games. Teams will come to their respective hash marks on the field acknowledging the other team with a clap, salute, or yelling good game in a show of sportsmanship.
  9. Game Day Gate: Fans should come with correct change including $1 and $5 dollar bills to avoid lingering at the gate and causing a long line. Mask are not required but encouraged.

It is up to each individual to determine what is best for themselves and their family’s health.  The NGYFA and its members encourage everyone to act responsibly for everyone’s health during this time.
